Overview

BowlsIQ ("we", "us", "our") is a lawn bowls training application operated from New Zealand. We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your personal information responsibly. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

Information we collect

When you create an account and use BowlsIQ, we may collect:

• Account information: your name, email address, profile photo, and club affiliation.
• Bowling data: practice sessions, drill results, match scores, shot details, and related metadata such as green conditions, weather, and location.
• Wellbeing data: daily check-in scores for mood, energy, sleep, confidence, focus, stress, and any injury or journal notes you choose to enter.
• Coaching data: if you are connected with a coach, data shared between you and your coach including messages, drill assignments, and performance analytics.
• Device information: device type, operating system version, and app version for troubleshooting and compatibility purposes.
• Location data: only when you choose to tag a session with a location. We do not track your location in the background.
• Photos: only photos you choose to attach to sessions. We do not access your camera roll without your permission.

How we use your information

We use your data to:

• Provide and improve the BowlsIQ service, including analytics, trends, and personalised insights.
• Enable coaching features such as sharing your performance data with your connected coach.
• Send you notifications you have opted into (such as coaching messages or drill assignments).
• Respond to support requests.
• Maintain the security and reliability of our service.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising.

Data storage and security

Your data is stored securely using Supabase, with servers hosted by Amazon Web Services. We use industry-standard encryption in transit (TLS) and enforce row-level security policies to ensure that your data is only accessible to you and anyone you have explicitly connected with (such as your coach).

Data sharing

We only share your personal data in the following circumstances:

• With your coach: if you accept a coaching connection, your coach can view your sessions, analytics, wellbeing check-ins, and send you messages.
• Service providers: we use third-party services to operate BowlsIQ (such as hosting and authentication providers). These providers only process data as necessary to provide their services to us.
• Legal requirements: we may disclose data if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users.

Your rights

You have the right to:

• Access your data: you can view all your data within the app at any time. You can also export your bowling data as a CSV file.
• Correct your data: you can update your profile and session information directly in the app.
• Delete your data: you can delete your account at any time from Settings > Account > Delete account. This permanently and irreversibly deletes your account and all associated data from our servers, including sessions, analytics, wellbeing records, messages, and coaching connections.
• Withdraw consent: you can disconnect from a coach, revoke notification permissions, or stop sharing location data at any time.

Children

BowlsIQ is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, please contact us and we will delete the account promptly.

Third-party services

BowlsIQ uses the following third-party services:

• Supabase: database, authentication, and storage.
• Expo / EAS: app delivery and over-the-air updates.
• Apple Sign In / Google Sign In: optional authentication methods.

Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the app or by email. Continued use of BowlsIQ after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
